PeekYou Opt-Out
What Does PeekYou Do?
PeekYou is a people search website. Like many data broker platforms, it allows users to look up someone using basic details and then delivers a long list of personal information tied to that name. What makes PeekYou a little different, at least in how it explains itself, is its focus on what it calls "scattered content".
Scattered content is publicly available information pulled from across the internet. Social media profiles. News articles. Personal websites. Blogs. Online usernames. Even old mentions that most people have long forgotten about. PeekYou gathers these fragments and stitches them together into a single composite profile. Because of this approach, a search on PeekYou can surface a person's full name, phone number, address, usernames, and related online activity. It also blends in data collected by other websites, large companies, and government sources, then presents everything as one unified profile. The problem is accuracy. These profiles are not guaranteed to be correct. Outdated details, mismatched identities, and unrelated content can easily end up attached to the wrong person.
PeekYou does allow users to create an account and request edits to their information. Still, many people prefer a cleaner option. Instead of correcting scattered data, they choose to opt out entirely and remove their profile from public search results.
Requirements to Remove My Name From PeekYou
There are no special personal requirements to remove your information from PeekYou's public search results. You do not need to create an account, pay a fee, or provide sensitive documentation. All official opt-out methods are free. PeekYou does require an email address for verification and follow-up communication. Nothing beyond that. No ID uploads. No additional authorization steps. For privacy reasons, it's smart to use an alternate email address when dealing with people search websites. Many people do this. It keeps your primary inbox a little quieter and your personal data a little less exposed.
PeekYou offers two different online opt-out forms, plus a manual request option. Each method is explained in detail later in this guide. Before starting any of them, it helps to collect your PeekYou profile URL or unique ID. This information speeds things up and reduces the chances of rejection. The next sections walk through how to find it.
Options to Remove Information from PeekYou
There are three ways to request a PeekYou data removal.
The first option is emailing PeekYou's privacy team directly. This can work, but requests without proper identifiers, such as a profile URL or unique ID, are often rejected or delayed.
The second option is an online opt-out form designed specifically for California residents. This form exists to comply with CCPA and CPRA requirements and requires a unique ID to submit. It is fully automated and typically faster.
The third option is an online opt-out form for users outside California. This form does not strictly require a profile URL or unique ID, although providing one improves success rates. Unlike the California form, this version is not automated and may take longer to process.
One important thing to know. PeekYou is only legally required to respond to California residents. Users outside California can still submit requests and often succeed, but responses are not guaranteed, especially if the California-specific form is used without meeting residency requirements. Choosing the right method depends on where you live and whether you have access to your profile details.
How to Acquire the PeekYou Profile URL and Unique ID
If you want a smooth opt-out process, this part matters. A lot. PeekYou relies on two identifiers when processing suppression requests. The profile URL and the unique ID. The profile URL points to the exact page where your information appears. The unique ID is embedded at the end of that URL. Without at least one of these, requests are more likely to stall or get rejected. Start by opening PeekYou.com in a new browser tab.
Step One
Type your first and last name into the search bar. Choose a state from the dropdown menu to narrow the results, then click the green magnifying glass.
If PeekYou does not have a profile tied to your details, you will not see standard results. Instead, the site usually displays links to other people search websites such as TruthFinder, Spokeo, or BeenVerified. That alone is useful to know.
If PeekYou does have records, the page will return a list of matches. These are real PeekYou results, not advertisements. You can tell because the navigation tabs appear directly below the blue header.
Step Two
Scroll through the results and locate the profile that matches your information.
Once you find it, right-click on the black name text on the left side of the listing and copy the link address.
The URL should look something like this:
https://www.peekyou.com/firstname_lastname/#########
Those numbers at the end are the unique ID. Each profile has a different one.
You can paste the full URL into emails sent to PeekYou's privacy team. If you are using an online opt out form, you can usually paste just the numeric ID into the required field.
This same approach works across many other people search websites too. Once you know how to identify profile URLs, opting out elsewhere becomes a lot less painful.
PeekYou Opt-Out Paths: Complete, Guided Tutorials
Send an Email to the PeekYou Privacy Team
Some people prefer email. It leaves a paper trail, feels more deliberate, and makes it easier to document exactly when and how a request was sent. If that sounds like you, emailing the PeekYou privacy team is a valid opt-out path. PeekYou's privacy policy is a little vague compared to similar data broker policies. It does not clearly define what information it considers "verifiable" when processing a removal request. Because of that, users are often left guessing what the support team needs to confirm identity. When a request lacks enough detail, the chances of rejection or delay go up.
For best results, email-based opt-out requests should closely mirror the structure of PeekYou's official online forms. Those forms include specific fields and consent checkboxes that acknowledge PeekYou's Terms and Conditions. Requests that follow the same format and clearly grant permission for data processing and removal are far more likely to be approved. To make this easier, you can draft your email using the template provided below. You can either write the message directly in your email client or copy and paste the template, replacing the highlighted placeholders with your actual information. This approach keeps your request clear, consistent, and easier for PeekYou's privacy team to process.
The PeekYou Opt-Out Form for Residents Outside of California (ID Necessary)
If you live outside California, you can still request removal through PeekYou's standard opt out form. The process is fairly quick, assuming you already have your profile's unique ID. One thing to know up front. PeekYou does not use an automated removal system for non California requests. That means email verification is mandatory, and skipping it will stop the process entirely.
Step One. Find Your Unique Profile ID
Before opening the form, you need your unique profile ID. This ID comes from your PeekYou profile URL. It is the numeric portion at the end of the address. Usually nine digits. Copy those numbers to your clipboard. You will need them shortly.
Step Two. Submit the Opt-Out Form
Open the PeekYou opt-out form in a new tab.
Enter your first and last name, then your email address twice. Paste your unique ID into the appropriate field. Complete the CAPTCHA and check both consent boxes to agree to the form's terms.
Once everything is filled out, click the Submit button.
The page should respond immediately with a confirmation message. Read it carefully. It explains that you must reply to the verification email PeekYou sends next.
Step Three. Reply to the Verification Email
Open the email sent from an @peekyou.com address.
You will see a request asking you to reply. Do exactly that. A short confirmation reply is enough.
This step is not optional. Without it, the removal request will not be processed.
The PeekYou Opt-Out Form for Residents of California (URL/ID Optional)
California residents should use the CCPA- and CPRA-specific opt-out form. This option is faster and mostly automated. Providing a profile URL or unique ID is optional but strongly recommended. Including one usually skips additional verification steps.
Step One. Gather Your Profile Information
Locate your profile URL or unique ID. Again, this is optional but helpful.
Some users also choose to include links to their social media accounts. This is not required, but it can help distinguish your record from others with similar names.
Step Two. Submit the CCPA Opt-Out Form
Open the PeekYou "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" form.
Enter your first and last name, email address, city, and state. Complete the CAPTCHA and check all required consent boxes. There are four of them.
Click Submit.
The page will refresh and instruct you to check your email inbox.
Step Three. Click the Verification Link
You will receive an email from @peekyou.com. Unlike the non-California process, this email does not require a reply.
Instead, click the verification link inside the message. A new tab will open confirming that your request has been verified.
Peek at the Status, then Check Back Annually
A verification page does not always mean permanent removal. It simply confirms that your request was received and authenticated. Records can reappear over time as new data is collected or indexed. PeekYou may not notify users if a request fails, especially outside California. It's a good habit to check back periodically. Once a year is reasonable. This guide reflects the opt out procedures outlined in PeekYou's privacy policy as of 2025.
